Explore our articles on equestrian events and inspections, from foal and mare shows to stallion selections, breed inspections and competition days. We look at what happens at these events, what judges assess and how preparation, presentation and the rules can shape a horse’s experience.

Drawing on practical experience and careful observation, we explain the purpose of different inspections and the details breeders and owners may need to consider. Our aim is to make these events easier to understand, while recognising the qualities each horse brings to the ring.
