Nicolette Maverick is a descendant of Jardonnay VDL x Baltic VDL. During the IBOP on March 23, 2022, the mare was subsequently declared star, keur and elite.

The Jardonnay daughter gallops with good balance and is easy to ride. She makes an uncomplicated impression, jumps with good impulsion and shows scope. She could use a little more flexibility, but overall she makes a nice impression.”

Jardonnay VDL

Jardonnay’s pedigree is imbued with inheritance power; Father Kannan has been one of the best suppliers of show jumping horses for many years and has produced top performers at the highest level every week with offspring such as Quabri de l’Isle, Quorida de Treho, Molly Malone V and Diva II. In addition, the influence of the preferent Indoctro is indispensable and great-grandfather Lux is also particularly influential within global show jumping horse breeding.

The pairing of the wealthy, generously developed Kannan with the blood-bred, very riding-type Duzella – mother of Jardonnay – seems to be an excellent combination. Mother Duzella is also no stranger: in 2011, this ten-year-old mare was chosen as champion of the National Mare Inspection in Ermelo. In addition, Duzella’s one-year younger sister Ezella was crowned champion of the Central Inspection of Brabant a year later. Jardonnay’s grandmother Uzella is a keur preferent mare, who, in addition to Duzella and Ezella, also produced the international show jumping horse Bocelli. This Indoctro son jumps at 1.45m level under Guy Goosen. Great-granddam Ozella is also keur and preferent and in turn produced the Cardento son Dubai, who jumps at 1.60m Grand Prix level with Mavis Spencer, and the 1.50m show jumping horse Tavarone.

Baltic VDL

The Grand Prix show jumping stallion Baltic has already acquired the ‘Preferent’ predicate from the KWPN, making him part of a new generation of foundation stallions. Baltic is a son of Quaprice, who died prematurely, and jumped at Grand Prix level. The keur stallion Jus de Pomme won double gold at the Atlanta Olympic Games and is the father of many Grand Prix horses. The line then continues with the proven sires Wellington, Orthos, Joost and Rigoletto. Baltic’s mother, the star, preferent and performance mare Nellandra, also produced the approved stallion Vegas VDL and the 1.60m showjumping horse Don Vito of Ben Maher. Nellandra is the full sister of the Grand Prix horse Melandra.

As a 7-year-old he finished 6th in the VION CUP and 3rd in the stallion competition. Baltic was trained by James Billington up to and including international 1.60m level. Several good performances were achieved, including 5th in the GP Leszno, 7th in the GP De Wolden and 7th in the GP Wierden and he won a 1.45m in Zuidwolde. He also came 3rd in the VHO trophy, 2nd 1.45m Drammen, 2nd 1.45m Wierden, 5th 1.50m Kiel, 5th 1.45m final Herning, 7th 1.45m Kronenberg, 8th 1.45m Roosendaal, 8th in 1.50m Geesteren and 8th 1.50m Ommen . In the Sires of the World, Baltic jumped clear and finished 10th.

At the beginning of 2018, Jur Vrieling took over the reins and immediately took 2nd place in the GP of Drachten. Baltic VDL subsequently achieved several international victories in 2018 and 2019, including a 1.50m class in Oldenburg. He was also placed in main categories of Redefin, Poznan, Stuttgart, Valkenswaard, Rotterdam and St Tropez.
